Spackle is messy whether you re applying a small patch or covering a large surface. If the floor is still dingy after dusting use a sponge mop to. To apply paste wax start by dampening a lint free cloth such as a shop cloth linen dish towel or old t shirt with warm water and a tiny dab of oil based furniture soap.

If some or all of the toothpaste on the floor has dried scrape the carpet fibers gently with the bowl of a plastic spoon or the edge of a plastic knife to flake some of the paste away. Many waxes are no buff and will remain glossy with no further effort. Paste wax requires time patience and a lot of elbow action to apply it to a piece of furniture. It gets on tools and on the floor.

If you don t want to track down specialized equipment simply use a clean dry terry cloth towel to polish your floor with a circular motion. Buff the floor if it the wax requires it. As it dries the solvent will evaporate leaving the polish. Spackle is a plastic like paste used to fill cracks or holes in plaster or drywall.
